Keturah Kenney works as an accompanist, choral director, classroom teacher, private studio music teacher and singer-songwriter. Her love of composing music and singing in parts developed from a young age while singing around the piano with her seven siblings and parents: regularly performing choral pieces with her family at church events. She gained valuable experience accompanying, directing and singing in many choirs and ensembles from a young age, recording songs with a band and performing often in the Brisbane community. After majoring in piano at the Qld Conservatorium of Music, where she enjoyed singing in the chamber and women’s choirs, she went on to receive her diploma of education at QUT. Her experience grew as she taught music in secondary and primary classrooms in Queensland, directed school choral groups and musicals, taught private singing and piano lessons internationally, and accompanied students for exams. She performs within her local and church communities and released an album of original songs in 2014. Choral music holds a special place in her heart because of the teamwork involved and the exciting sound of voices singing in harmony.
