ABOUT COUNTERPOINT VOCAL ENSEMBLE

Counterpoint Vocal Ensemble was formed in 1987 by Ian and Lesley Brown in response to a need for a quality choir in the Redcliffe area, just north of Brisbane. Since this time, Counterpoint has maintained a strong presence on the Brisbane Northside, aiming to produce high quality a cappella choral singing. 

When Counterpoint was first formed, the repertoire ranged from Elizabethan madrigals and medieval festival music to modern, close harmony jazz arrangements. Now over 30 years later Counterpoint has become a leader in the Brisbane choral community, specialising in beautiful and accessible a cappella vocal repertoire, with genres ranging from classical through to contemporary hits, with a particular focus on easy listening classics and jazz standards.

Counterpoint has presented recitals & concerts in Redcliffe, the greater Brisbane area (particularly the north side of Brisbane) and beyond. Counterpoint is also proud to be part of the wider Brisbane community choir family and enjoys participating in large choral events such as Brisbane Sings. Counterpoint is a proud member of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA). 

Rehearsals take place weekly during Queensland state school terms, on Tuesday nights from 7:30pm - 9:30pm in Bridgeman Downs.
